Sensory Integration

Sensory Integration

Sensory integration therapy aims to help children with sensory processing difficulties by exposing them to sensory stimulation in a structured, repetitive way. The theory behind it is that over time, the brain will adapt and allow children to process and react to sensations more efficiently. Problems with sensory integration often present alongside other diagnoses such as cerebral palsy, Autism, Developmental co-ordination disorder.

Therapy is often supplemented with sensory strategies for use at home and school, like adaptations to the environment and sensory lifestyles.
